Arthis is a warm unisex crochet scarf worked as a single, continuous piece with a simple architectural pattern. Running lengthwise in back-and-forth rows of V-stitches, three contrasting colors create a bold chevron motif with rich texture and visual rhythm. A clean single-crochet edging along the short edges frames the piece and brings clarity to the geometry. The result is an easy-to-make, pleasure-to-wear scarf that reads as a true hero piece—quietly striking, practical, confident, and fun.

TOOLS & MATERIALS
- A medium-weight yarn in three contrasting colors: approx. 650–750yd / 600–680m (9-10oz/250-280g) total, divided between three colors (about 260yd/240m per 3.5oz/100g skein of each color)
- US # J (10) / 6mm crochet hook for main work; US # K (10½) / 6.5mm crochet hook for foundation chain, or sizes to get gauge
- measuring tape, tapestry needle
Suggested Yarns
For this scarf, I used Lanagold from Alize, colors 216 (Yellow), 26 (Dark Brown), and 21 (Light Grey). This is a lightweight yet voluminous yarn with excellent stitch definition, offering generous yardage to create structured, well-defined fabric.
I recommend using a DK or Light Worsted weight yarn (be sure to check gauge for best results). Examples of substitute yarns: Berroco Vintage, Drops Karisma, Sirdar Country Classic DK, etc.
Note that I’m not affiliated with the manufacturers or retailers of these yarns and do not receive any compensation or benefit from mentioning them in my blog materials.
If these yarns aren’t available where you live, feel free to share your location in the comments, and I’ll be glad to suggest suitable alternatives.

WORKING INSTRUCTIONS
Body
With larger hook and Color 1, ch 240.
Tip: When working the foundation chain, use a crochet hook one size larger than recommended for the main project. This makes the foundation chain easier to work into and keeps the edge flexible rather than tight. For example, if the main hook size is J/10 (6 mm), use a K/10½ (6.5 mm) hook for the foundation chain only, then switch back to the main hook for the rest of the project.
Switch to smaller hook and work as follows (see stitch chart below):
Row 1 Ch 3, V-st in 5th ch from hook, [skip next ch, V-st in next ch] to 3rd ch from end of foundation chain, skip next ch, dc in last ch. Break yarn, fasten off, weave in end.
Row 2 Attach next color yarn in the final dc of previous row. Ch 3, [V-st in next V-st] to last V-st, in top of ch-3 of previous row. Break yarn, fasten off, weave in end.
Continue repeating Row 2 until your piece measures 10″/25.5cm tall (or your desired width), end with a row in Color 1.

Edging
Attach Color 1 yarn in the corner near the final ch of the foundation chain.
Work a row of single crochets along each short edge of the scarf to straighten out the edges:
Ch 1, 2 sc in same edge stitch, [2 sc in edge stitch of next row] to edge stitch of last row.
Break yarn, fasten off, weave in end.
